Protestors on Peaks

pop_top_web_8_013.jpg.opt492x618o00s492x618Protestors on Peaks is a protest with a difference: a media event to show our united opposition to coal seam gas or coal mining in the Scenic Rim. Strong resistance, from our communities and those who love to visit, is needed to stop coal and gas company exploration activities progressing to full-scale production. We aim to stop the resource companies getting a foot in the Scenic Rim, or we risk the same industrialisation as can now be seen on Queensland's Darling Downs, the Hunter Valley and other areas around Australia and the world.

Beechmont is participating in this day of action on Sunday October 16 by having a banner at Rosin’s Lookout between 11am and 12midday, and a banner painting and banner flying session at the Beechmont Markets between 9am and 11am. Everyone is welcome to come along to either location and/or have their own banners in their backyards, on their roofs and in other visible places so that our community helps to build a sea of banners right across the Scenic Rim between 11am and 12midday that day.
