The Beechmont Business and Enterprise Network (BBEN) invites local business owners/operators to the BBEN Solstice Buffet on Friday June 19 at 6.30pm at Laurel Cottage for an evening of networking, conversation and great local food.

The theme for the evening focuses on the wonders of the local food economy and our guest speaker is Robyn Fortescue from Wallaby Ridge Retreat and Scenic Rim Escapes who will tell us about the 100 Mile Diet program she is setting up for her own business and our regional tourism sector. We’ll also hear from Laurel Cottage about their use of local produce and their business-building initiatives and as a group, we’ll explore how local food and a strong local economy can support our own businesses and the Beechmont community. BBEN president Sally MacKinnon said, “BBEN was formed in 2006 and our mission is to create a local economy that is self sustaining, robust and adaptable. Our vision is a vibrant, prosperous, united community that also protects our natural environment. “Each year BBEN produces the Beechmont Business Directory and distributes it to every home across the mountain in February and July. “Every Sunday morning we operate B-Fresh, the Beechmont community’s own local produce stall with spray-free, locally grown and regional fresh fruit and vegies – at the Old School Site between 8am and 10am.

“BBEN coordinates the Beechmont Community Website: www.beechmont.org.au which has an online business directory, community events calendar, classified ads, car pooling and ABC news and weather.

“We also host occasional local business networking events so that Beechmont’s diverse and creative business community can get together to share ideas and learn more about building sustainable businesses,” Sally said. BBEN extends a warm welcome to established, new and emerging enterprises to come along to the BBEN Solstice Buffet on Friday June 19 at 6.30pm at Laurel Cottage. Cost is $10 for a delectable spread of pizzas, canapés and cheeses – all made from local produce. BYO alcohol (note $2/head corkage).

BBEN members are also invited to the BBEN general meeting at 5pm at Laurel Cottage.
