The Ethos Foundation, in collaboration with Scenic Rim Regional Council and AusIndustry has been running the Building Sustainable Small Business (BSSB) program in the Scenic Rim Region since early 2008. The program is designed to help local businesses become more prosperous and resilient through sustainability actions such as reducing water, energy and waste; focusing on local and regional enterprise; and networking and collaborating within the region. The first free workshops for small businesses kick off in Beaudesert on Tuesday March 3 between 10am and 12.30pm with a focus on creating prosperous local businesses and local economies. For more information or to RSVP for the workshop, contact Jan McGregor on 5533 3144 or

In addition, there are still places available in the BSSB Mentoring, Training and Leadership program - an intensive business-building learning process designed specifically for local businesses. This program includes 3 half-day sessions with a hand-picked business mentor with skills to match your business; flexible and accredited learning program with Permaforest Trust (online to suit your schedule); and discussion and networking sessions. The mentoring program is heavily subsidised by AusIndustry so fees are minimal. For more information contact Jan McGregor on 5533 3144 or
