Beechmont boasts a huge variety of musical talent that includes emerging and established performers, bands, singer-songwriters, buskers and instrumentalists working across many musical genres.

This year Zest Fest showcases four outstanding local musicians.

Huon MacKinnon-Farnworth – 14-year old Huon has been performing since he was in Year 4 at Beechmont State School with the school’s concert band. For the past year he has played bass guitar for the 4-piece classic rock band Confined Spaces and the 12-piece blues outfit Shadez of Blue. Huon has a great voice and now also performs at festivals as a solo singer and acoustic guitarist in his own right. At Zest Fest he’ll be performing with his Confined Spaces lead guitarist Jon Lamprecht doing classic covers. Huon has performed at Zest Fest 2010, Beerwah Big Night Out, Barefoot at the Basement, Tamborine Mountain’s Australia Day Celebration, Boonah’s World Environment Day Festival and the Mudgeeraba Show.

Lily White – is an accomplished Gold Coast musician, singer, songwriter who has played music most of her life. She plays harmonica, flute and guitar and creates her own sound with melodic vocals and harmonies. Lily plays solo, in duos, trios and in bands mainly in blues, folk and soul music. Her current band is called “Lily White and the Sunshine Boys” and she has played at the Blues on Broadbeach Festival with “Dr Scrubby”, the “Hillbilly Bandits” and Phil Manning (from “Chain”). Lily works at many venues and shared the stage with the great Whiley Reed, Brian Fraser, Dutch Tilders, George Washingmachine and Geoff Achison. Lily’s great love in life is music and her playing has always been enjoyed by audiences wherever she plays.

Combining blues, roots and folk Will Miller’s music is infused with a fresh Australian sound. Will is always writing songs and playing guitar. His debut album 'Footprints in the Sound' is a collection of works to be enjoyed by young and old in the name of fun and laughter. Will’s influences include Paul Kelly, Rodriguez, Johny Cash, Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, Dire Straits, Midnight Oil, Sinead O'Connor, Tracy Chapman, David Gray, John Martin, Toots and the Maytails, Slim Dusty, Banjo Patterson and all live original music. Music is a massive part of Wills life, from playing songs to teaching guitar, the dream is simply to share the sound with all. Will has developed an extensive repertoire of Australian songs since the birth of his second daughter Matilda. He has played many Australiana gigs at Australia Zoo, Sanctuary Cove and Evandale Parklands and is deeply inspired by our great southern land.

Jackie McDonald - www.jackiemcdonald.com.au - Known as ‘Mexicano’ Jackie has spent a lifetime in music and is a firm favourite of lovers of Latin/Rock music and those who just enjoy style and tastefully played World music. Jackie’s performances are based on the Santana guitar style and he has a voice that can belt it out or croon those Latin numbers that will have you on your feet and dancing mambo.
